When you are considering hiring an SEO agency to not only improve your brand awareness and drive traffic that will hopefully bring in sales but finding an SEO agency that is not going to damage or kill your online business in doing so.
Here are some tips to look out for:
Stay away from SEO agencies that guarantee results at low prices?
Now as Google continues to make changes to its algorithms and SEO only getting even harder, nowadays SEO comes with a higher cost to see continued results. I see countless websites offers full outdated SEO “packages” for £50 a month that includes 30 keywords and top 10 rankings all within a couple of weeks.
Stay away from these agencies they have no value to deliver or have any interest in protecting your business using the outdated strategies that can and will kill your online presence. If it’s to good to be true then it probably is. Now not all agencies are bad, however they run there companies like a call centre and are not interested in helping your business grow except to collect that monthly fee along with thousands of others.
Check or ask what strategies they will be performing on your website because different strategies work for different businesses and make sure you don’t sign a 12 or 18 month contract.
Ask them the correct questions?
When you enquire or speak to someone about signing up to an SEO Agency you will mostly likely speak to a sales rep or a trained rookie that knows the basics of SEO only to get you excited to sign that contact or to get you engaged with there service.
Ask them questions like:
- What strategies do you use?
- Who will I be speaking and communicating with on a daily or monthly bases?
- Do you provide monthly progress reports?
- What timescale are we looking to produce some results? (Around 10 to 14 weeks depending)
By asking questions you are not only qualifying them to see if they know what they are talking about, but getting a feel of how they operate as a SEO agency. Now this is not required but if you’re like me I like to know who people are outside of work hours, so check out there social media profiles, it doesn’t matter if they are weird or use profound language but it just gives you an overview of who they are and what they are passionate about:
Stay away from cold call emails?
As an SEO agency we get around 10 emails per day from random companies outside the UK and sometimes within the UK about how your rankings are poor or can be improved with there services.
Here are some examples of them:
I’m not blurring the 3rd one because it sickness me that they send these out to innocent people. These are not only scams but can damage your business because they use all kinds of black hat strategies that will burn your online business to digital dust.
Check there results and see if they have testimonials with real faces on there website for social proof. So this is just a few tips that I have seen increasing recently so stay on the lookout.
